The German alternative Für Deutschland (AfD) Party has been designated by the Federal Office of the Land as the right -wing extremist as the right -wing extremist for the protection of the Constitution.
“The ethnicity and origin -based conception of the people dominated in the party is not compatible with the free democratic order,” said the domestic intelligence service in a statement.
The AfD finished second in federal elections in February and won a record 152 seats in parliament of 630 seats with 20.8% of the votes.
The Parliament, or Bundestag, will keep a voice next week to confirm the conservative leader Friedrich Merz as Chancellor, who leads a coalition with the Center-Link Social Democrats.
The extreme right -wing AfD was already placed under observation for presumably extremism in Germany, and the intelligence service had also classified it as a right -wing extremist in three states in the east, where popularity is highest.
The office, or Verfassungschutz, specifically said that the AfD citizens did not consider a “migration background from predominantly Muslim countries” as the same members of the German people.
The departing Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser said that the agency had made his decision after an extensive evaluation with “no political influence”.
It is thought that the change in the designation of the AfD’s Intelligence Services enables the threshold for the use of informants and reducing supervision when monitoring the party.
