Biden Cancer Diagnosis contributes to questions about health in the office

The announcement of Joe Biden that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer has revived questions about what health problems the former US president had to do while he was in the White House.

In a statement on Sunday, the Biden office said that the 82 -year -old Friday had received the diagnosis after seeing a doctor for urine buckets.

Some doctors have surprised that the aggressive form of cancer, which has spread to its bones, had not been discovered before.

Others pointed to that cancers can grow quickly without the patient showing symptoms – and that men older than 70 are not routinely screened.

President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday that his predecessor should have been more transparent with the public, seem to suggest – without providing evidence – that cancer was covered.

“I think it is actually very sad. I am surprised that the public was not informed long ago,” Trump said during an event in the White House.

“It may take years to reach this level of danger. So look, it’s a very, very sad situation. I feel very bad about it and I think people should try to find out what happened.”

Biden still has to respond to Trump’s comments, which came in the midst of reports that the assistants of the Democrat wanted to hide other deteriorating health status of the public before the 2024 elections.

Republicans claim that Biden, who was re-election was the oldest president in history at the age of 81, was mentally and physically unsuitable for office. He stopped the race last summer after a disastrous debate performance against Trump.

According to the original sin, a new book by journalists Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, Biden Hollywood actor and democratic donor George Clooney could not recognize whether the names of important assistants in his final year in office.

The authors write: “Biden’s physical deterioration – most clearly in his stop walk – had become so serious that there were internal discussions about placing the president in a wheelchair, but they could only do this after the elections.”

The publicity generated by the book has forced Senior Democrats to ask questions about why they no longer did to respond to the worries of Americans about the health of Biden while campaigning for re -election.

“It was a mistake for Democrats not to listen to voters before,” said Senator Chris Murphy Sunday.

After the news about Biden’s diagnosis, Vice-President JD Vance wished him the best, but then asked if the doctors or employees of Biden wanted to prevent him from knowing the true state of his health.

“This is not child’s play, and we can pray for good health, but also acknowledge that if you are not good enough to do the work, you would not have to do the work,” he added.

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, an oncologist who worked as a Covid adviser of the White House of Biden, was one of those who claimed that Biden had probably been sick with cancer for some time, without necessarily knowing it.

“He did not develop in the last 100, 200 days. He had it while he was president,” he told MSNBC’s Morning Joe Show. “He probably had it at the start of his presidency in 2021. Yes, I don’t think there is no disagreement about that.”

American medical guidelines do not recommend routine blood tests for men older than 70, because prostate cancer can be very slowly growing and the damage to testing and treatment can outweigh the risk of the cancer.

Biden was previously diagnosed with a benign expansion of the prostate. In 2019, before he was chosen, his campaign published the report of his medical screening and said he had been treated with medication and surgery, “and never had prostate cancer.”

That led to questions whether Biden was tested at any time during his four -year presidency – and why the diagnosis was so late.

“I would assume that the former president gets a very thorough physical every year,” said Dr. Chris George from the Northwestern Health Network to Reuters. “It’s a bit difficult for me to believe that he had a (blood test) that was normal in the past year.”

Dr. However, Robert Figlin, interim director of Cedars-Sinai Cancer, told the BBC that the aggressive way in which Biden’s cancer had presented was not so unusual. And he warned critics against “assuming that something was missed on the road in one way or another.”

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer for men, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), every 100 American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lives and two or three men will die.
