Former US President Joe Biden has told the BBC that the pressure exerted by President Donald Trump on Ukraine to end his war with Russia for “modern reconciliation” by his successor.
In his first interview since leaving the White House, Biden discussed the 80th birthday of Ve Day and told Radio 4’s Today program about his fears for the future relationship between the US-Europe.
He also thought about his decision to go aside late in last year’s presidential competition – to leave Kamala Harris only a few weeks to challenge Trump – and argued that it didn’t matter if he had done this before.
