Canada’s Carney reveals Economics-oriented cabinet in the midst of the American Trade War

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has unveiled a new team and promises “decisive action” on his ambitious economic agenda – amid a trade war with the repeated comments of the US and President Donald Trump that undermines the sovereignty of Canada.

The new cabinet of 28 ministers and 10 state secretaries mark some important changes, including a new foreign Minister to handle the currently loaded relationship in the US canada.

The reorganization, two weeks after the elections, brings some well -known names and political newcomers – a team “specially built for this hinge moment”, Carney said reporters on Tuesday afternoon.

“The new Ministry of Canada was built to make the change that Canadians want and earn,” he said.

Chrystia Freeland, the Deputy Prime Minister under Trudeau and a former Foreign Minister and Finance in his government, remains in transport.

Halifax MP Lena Metle Diab is also new to the cabinet in the role of Minister of Immigration.

The former mayor of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson, plays an important role that supervises housing. Carney has promised to significantly increase construction in the midst of an affordability crisis in Canada.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre criticized Carney criticized for keeping so many ministers who served in the Trudeau cabinet.
