Chile has published a Tsunami warning and said that people should evacuate a coastal area in the south of the country after a large earthquake.
The warning was issued for the remote region of Magallanes on the southern tip of Chile.
It is after an earthquake of 7.4 Magnitude 219 km (136 miles) has hit the coast of the city of Ushuaia, in Argentina on Friday at 13:58 local time, according to the Geological Survey of the United States.
Aftershocks have been reported in the region.
In a post on X, Chilean President Gabriel Boric said: “We are calling for evacuation of the coastline in the Magallanes region.”
Chile’s disaster office advised residents to “act calmly and to follow the instructions of authorities and reaction teams”.
Local media report that this is a precautionary measure, asking residents to evacuate to safe areas that are 30 meters above sea level.
