Denmark calls on the American ambassador about the Greenland spy reporting report

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark says that he will call on the American ambassador to tackle a report that the Washington spy agencies have been told to concentrate on Greenland in the midst of Donald Trump’s threats to take over the island.

“It makes me a big worries because we don’t spy on friends,” said Lars Løkke Rasmussen, responding to the report The Wall Street Journal.

“We are going to call the US -ambassador for a discussion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to see if we can confirm this information,” said Rasmussen.

“It does not seem to be strongly rejected by those who speak. That worries me.”

The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) refused to comment on the article, but told the Danish media that the “naturally” had taken note of the American interest in Greenland.

Based on international interest in Greenland in general, the agency said, there was an increased spy drew threat to IT and Denmark.

President Trump has repeatedly sworn to take control of Greenland, most recently told NBC News on Sunday that he had not excluded that he had used military force to grab the Arctic island.
