Donald Trump says that India is willing to accuse ‘no rates’ of American goods

US President Donald Trump has said that India has offered to drop all rates on the goods imported from his country.

The Indian government “offered us a deal in which they are in fact willing to literally not ask us a rate,” Trump said during an event in Doha.

India and the US are currently in discussions to negotiate a trade agreement.

Delhi has not yet commented on the comments. The BBC has contacted the Indian Ministry of Trade for comment.

No further details about the alleged deal with India have been made public yet.

Trump spoke at an event with business leaders in Doha, where he announced a series of deals between the US and Qatar, including for Boeing Jets.

According to Bloomberg, the American president also said he had told Apple CEO Tim Cook not to expand production in India.

“I said I didn’t want you to build in India,” Bloomberg quoted Trump, said about a conversation he said with Cook. He added that Apple “will increase their production in the United States”.

This is a developing story.
