TMZ Sports Gained the autopsy report of the District 12 Medical Examiner’s Office in Florida … in which “Sequela of Acute Influenza A, including streptococcal faryngitis” was mentioned as the official cause of death.
Hypertensive heart conditions were mentioned as a contributing factor … and his way of death was of course.
A toxicological report was carried out on Sauerbeck, which came back from all substances.
The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the death of Sauerbeck in February. After he was originally selected by the New York Mets in the 1994 design, the Pirates picked up the Miami (OHIO) product during the design of rule 5 of 1998.
He debuted during the 1999 season … and spent five years at the club before he was traded to Boston during the 2003 season.
Sauerbeck would miss the 2004 season after an operation to repair a torn Labrum and Rotatormanchet in his left shoulder. He ended his career and made performances for Oakland and Cleveland before hanging his shoe plates in 2008.
