Haribo remembers packages of sweets in the Netherlands, after some appeared to contain traces of cannabis.
Several people, including several members of one family, reported to feel unwell after eating a package of 1 kg Haribo Happy Cola F! ZZ.
A spokesperson for the food safety body in the Netherlands (NVWA) said that some had reported ‘dizziness’ after eating the candy. The desk told Dutch broadcaster SBS6 that “samples were taken and cannabis was found in it”.
A Haribo spokesperson told the BBC that it collaborated with the police to “determine the facts about the contamination”.
NVWA said three packages were found to be infected, but Haribo remembers as a precaution.
The bags in question have a best date of January 2026.
It is not clear how many people have become unwell.
NVWA said the police were investigating how cannabis came in the Sweets, the Dutch media report.
The agency said there were bags in circulation that “can lead to health complaints, such as dizziness, when they are consumed”.
“Do not eat the candies,” added the explanation.
It is not clear whether the polluted products are real Haribo bags or fake.
Haribo said that the safety of his consumers had the highest priority, and added that it took the incident “very seriously”.
The candy giant said that the recall was only in the Netherlands, with other regions unaffected.
All other products are safe to consume, says the company.
