An Israeli air raid on Gaza hit the house of a doctor and killed nine of her 10 children, the hospital where she works in the city of Khan Younis.

Nasser Hospital said that one of Dr.’s children. Alaa al-Najjar and her husband were injured, but survived. Graeme Groom, a British surgeon who worked in the hospital, said he had operated on her surviving 11-year-old boy.

A video shared by the director of the Hamas-Runned Health Minister and verified by the BBC showed that small burnt bodies were lifted from the rubble of a strike in Khan Younis on Friday.

The BBC has approached Israel’s army for comment.

More than 70 people were killed on Friday in Israeli air strikes, with at least six dead so far on Saturday, the Civil Defense Agency run by Hamas told AFP.

Dr. Muneer Alboursh, director of the Ministry of Health, said on X that the family house was hit minutes after Dr. Al-Najjar Hamdi had returned home after he had driven his wife to work.

Dr. Alboursh said that the oldest of Dr.’s children. Al-Najjar was 12 years old.

Mr Groom said that the father of the children was “very badly injured” in a video Posted on the Instagram account From another British surgeon who works in the Nasser Hospital, Rose.

He said he had asked for the father, also a doctor in the hospital, and had told that he “had no political and no military connections and does not seem to be prominent on social media.”

He described it as an “unimaginable” situation for Dr. Al-Najjar.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Hamas Civil Defense Agency of Gaza, said on Telegram on Friday afternoon that his teams had found eight bodies and several injured from the Al-Najar house near a gas station in Khan Younis.

The hospital initially posted on Facebook that eight children were killed and then two hours later that number updated to nine.

In an interview recorded by AFP News Agency, relatively Youssef al-Najjar said: “Enough! Have mercy with us! We argue for all countries, the international community, the people, Hamas and all the factions to have mercy with us.

“We are exhausted from the relocation and hunger, enough!”

Palestinians try to get bread in a bakery star in Gaza on 22 May

On Friday, UN Secretary General António Guterres warned that people in Gaza could be “the cruelest phase” of the war and denounced the blockade of Israel for humanitarian aid in March.

Israel partially lifted the blockade earlier this week. Israeli military body Cogat said that 83 more trucks with flour, food, medical equipment pharmaceutical drugs have arrived on Friday Gaza.

The UN has repeatedly said that the amount of help with coming in is nowhere close enough for the 2.1 million people in the territory – that they say that between 500 and 600 trucks are needed a day – and has called on Israel to allow it much more.

The limited amount of food that dripped in Gaza this week led to chaotic scenes, with armed looters who attacked an auxiliary crap and Palestinians who pressed bakeries outside of a desperate attempt to obtain bread.

A assessment supported by the UN this month said that the population of Gaza had a “critical risk” of famine.

People in Gaza have told the BBC that they have no food, and malnourished mothers are unable to breastfeed babies.

Chronic water shortages also aggravate because desalination and hygiene plants no longer have fuel, and the growing military offensive of Israel causes new waves of displacement.

Israel said that the blockade was intended to exercise Hamas to release the hostages who are still being held in Gaza.

Israel has accused Hamas of stealing supplies that the group has denied.

Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to the cross -border attack of Hamas on October 7, 2023, in which around 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were held hostage.

At least 53,822 people, including at least 16,500 children, have since been killed in Gaza, according to the Health Minister of the area.
