A judge in Los Angeles has agreed to create two brothers who are life in prison for the murders of their parents in 1989 in a mansion in Beverly Hills.
The ruling of judge Michael Jesic in the case of Erik and Lyle Menendez makes the way free for the release of the brothers on conditional release.
The couple has acknowledged that Kitty and Jose Mendez kill Kitty and Jose, but said that after years of abuse they have acted out of self -defense and have since been rehabilitated.
Public Prosecutors have argued that the brothers have carefully planned the shotgun killings to gain access to their parents’ fortune, have yet to take responsibility and not be allowed to be released.
The brothers are expected to first give a statement – via video – to the court during Tuesday’s hearing.
The infamous matter, which has led to books, documentaries and dramas, still divides America.
