Julius Malema from South Africa is out after he has not received a VK visa

The South African fire brigade confirmation politician Julius Malema says that he was denied a visa to attend a conference in the UK on 10 May.

Malema said that the UK had no “substantial justification” for his decision, and he saw it as a “attempt to silence a different political perspective”.

In a leaked letter to Malema’s representative, the British high commissioner to South Africa, Antony Phillipson, said that the home office could not have processed his visa application on time for his journey.

Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party, is a fierce critic of what he sees as ‘Western imperialism’, and also argues for the nationalization of white country in South Africa.

A spokesperson for the home office told the BBC that they do not comment on individual matters.

In a position on X, the EFF said that the High Commission “had actively delayed the processing and approval of their leader of their leader, so that he could not speak at the University of Cambridge on 10 May.

He was invited by the African society of the university to tackle her Africa Together Conference, the EFF added.

In his letter, the BBC was told is real, Mr Phillipson said that he “wanted to apologize personally” that the home office in the VK “could not have processed the application on time because of the necessary steps needed to consider visa applications and the unfortunate timing of some recent British holidays”.

He added that he had taken a “personal interest in the issue” last week.

“I acknowledge that this will be deeply disappointing, especially because the delegation paid in advance and some for priority service,” Mr Phillipson said in the letter to the goarde of the Eff.

Mr Phillipson added that the home office had agreed to repay the application costs.

Malema said on X that the EFF delegation was promised that “everything would be sorted”, but a “regret letter received only a few hours before our departure”.

“This is unacceptable and spinless,” he added.

The UK had a bank or public on 5 May.
