The French police saved the father from a cryptocurrency billionaire who was abducted and held for ransom in a suburb of Paris.
The nameless man was attacked on Thursday in broad daylight in Central Paris. He was bundled in a delivery bus by four men who wore Balaclavas, police sources told Le Figaro -Krant.
French media say that the victim had missed one finger when he was saved on Saturday from a house in Palaiseau, south of Paris.
Four suspects were arrested. It is the third kidnapping that has been connected to the cryptocurrency industry of France this year this year.
In the latter case, the victim is said to be in his 1950s. Le Parisien-Krant said his abductors demanded that his rich son paid a 5-7m euro-los money (£ 4.2-5.9 million).
The police were reportedly led to the house by telephone signals. The four suspects are interviewed.
In a post on X late on Saturday, the French Minister of the Interior congratulated Bruno Retaillleau researchers for an “exceptional job when freeing this man”.
The incident comes less than four months after David Balland, co-founder of the Ledger of Cryptocurrency, was abducted with his wife in their house in Central France.
They were saved by the police within a few days. Mr Balland had also cut a finger off.
The criminals had demanded a 10 million euros (£ 8.5 million). Six men and a woman were arrested in connection with that case.
And at the beginning of January a 56-year-old man was found alive in the boot of a car near the western city of Le Mans.
Media reports say that his abductors had tried to squeeze money from his son, a cryptocurrency influencer in Dubai.
