The leader of Noord -Korea, Kim Jong Un, sentenced a “serious accident” on Thursday during the launch of a new warship and called it a “criminal act” that could not be tolerated.
Parts of the bottom of the 5000 tons of destroyer were crushed, so that the ship was brought out of balance, the state media reported.
Kim, who was present at the launch, ordered that the ship was restored before an important party meeting in June, and for those involved in the design of the ship that was held responsible for the incident he said that “the dignity and pride of our nation in an instant was badly damaged.”
Staatsmedia reports did not mention any victims or injuries as a result of the incident.
Kim attributed Thursday, which took place at a shipyard in the eastern port city of Chongjin, “absolute carelessness, irresponsibility and unscientific empirism”.
He added that the “irresponsible errors” of those involved will be treated next month during a plenary meeting.
It is not clear which punishment they can be confronted with, but the authoritarian state has a sad human rights record.
People can be imprisoned for almost everythingHave activists said, from looking at a South Korean DVD to trying to go over.
It is unusual for Noord -Korea to make local accidents publicly known – although it has done a handful of times in the past.
Last November it described the explosion in the air of a military satellite six months earlier as a “most serious failure” and criticized officials who “prepared irresponsibly” for that.
In August 2023, the State blamed another failed satellite launch of an error in the emergency basty system, but said it was “not a big problem”.
Thursday’s incident comes weeks after North Korea has unveiled a new 5000 tons of torpedo hunter on the west coast of the country, of which it is equipped to wear more than 70 rockets.
Kim had called the warship a “breakthrough” when modernizing the sea -fighting forces of the country and said that it would be used early next year.
