Kim Kardashian will appear later today in the court in Paris as a witness in a burglary store that goes back until 2016, when she was stopped at shot and had taken millions of dollars on her from her.
The reality TV star and businesswoman, 44, is expected to take the position in the afternoon to give her version of events of the burglary, which saw her tied up and kept under shot in a luxury suite where she was staying during the Paris Fashion Week.
Jewels worth millions of dollars were taken from her, including a diamond engagement of $ 4 million (£ 2.9 million) of the then man Kanye West.
Ten people stand for the test, which started last month.
On Monday witness Abderrahmane Ouatiki, the night receptionist who says he had gone to Kardashian’s hotel suite and was made to translate the demands of the burglars, said that the American star was “completely hysterical” and “in a state of complete terror” as a “very nervous” man founded a gun on her.
“He was very aggressive and she was completely terrified,” said Oatiki.
He added that he had also feared for his life, because the burglar acted irregularly and was clearly irritated by Kardashian’s screams.
Allegedly three people watched the reception of the exclusive hotel De Pourtalès in Central Paris, while two other men forced Ouatiki to take them to Kardashian’s Suite, where they demanded that she gave him the ring and also stole other jewelry for a total of $ 9 million.
The men were arrested three months later, alongside various other people thought they were accessories for crime.
Twelve would eventually appear in court, although one died in March and another was apologized for health reasons. Of the remaining 10, all involved deny any involvement in the burglary. The jewels were never found, but the police think they are apart and sold.
French media have called the defendants the “grandfather roots”, since several are in the 1970s. Many also have serious health problems. One undergoes chemotherapy, while the other visible vibrations had.
The alleged leader, Aomar Ait Khedache, 68, was questioned last week, but was deaf and stupid and had to write down his answers with a pen and paper that were projected on a screen.
Since the trial was opened on April 28, public prosecutors have tried to expel the image of unfortunate older burglars – who reportedly did not know that their victims were a hugely famous familiarity.
“They may have made mistakes, but they were still a decent team,” said the main researcher of the special unit of the Brigade de Répression du Banditism (Banditry Repression Brigade).
He noted that the Burglars Kardashian’s feet and ankles tied with cable tires and stuck tape on her mouth, and they took a car to park near the scene of the crime and used burner telephones.
“That was well done,” he said. “They pulled it out because they managed to scour the goods and break down a ring of $ 4 million in Antwerp from Antwerp, which is not that simple,” he added.
In his testimony, Ouatiki also painted a frightening image of one of the burglars that he said he used a gun and “stressed and shouted … you feel that someone is who can be very dangerous.”
Ouatiki acted as an interpreter between the man and Kardashian and said he did his best to “calm things down because I didn’t know what he was capable of”.
When the Kardashian burglars tied up and took her to the bathroom, she only wore a bathrobe and the belt came undone, the court heard. Asked by Kardashian’s lawyer Léonore Hennerick to describe the moment, Ouatiki refused to go into detail. “You have to respect the victim, I think,” he said.
Referring to that moment in an emotional interview in 2020, Kardashian told the American journalist David Letterman that she thought she would be sexually abused.
“I had something like:” Okay, this is the time I will be raped, “she said.
She added that she feared her life and that she was worried about her sister Khloe, who was in a club: “I will be dead in the room and she will be traumatized for the rest of her life.”
Instead, the burglars took her ring and various other jewels, telephone and € 1,000 in cash and ran away. Kardashian was quickly able to loosen herself and her bodyguard arrived shortly thereafter. She gave a statement to the police in the early hours of 3 October and immediately flew back to the US.
For his part, Ouatiki – an Algerian subject who was a PhD student in semiotics at the time – said that he suffered a lot of speculation in the media that he might have been on the robbery.
“The suspicion was very hard to wear,” he told the court.
Ouatiki told the French media that he lost his student status shortly after the robbery and had to go back to Algeria, where he was diagnosed with PTSD.
“It was a catastrophe, my life fell apart,” he told Le Point.
On Tuesday morning, Simone Bretter, the friend and stylist of Kardashian, takes the position. She stayed in the same suite during the robbery, but was on a different floor and hid when she realized that burglars had been broken into.
Almost 500 journalists are accredited and Kardashian’s testimony will attract huge media attention.
“The witness will enable her to recover agency in this situation and rewrite the end,” says Jeetenr Sehdev, famous expert and the author of the Kim Kardashian principle.
“In 2016 she was the clou. But in 2025 the witnesses will change her in the narrator,” he told the BBC.
