King travels to support Canada while the Trump is wronging

King Charles and Queen Camilla will arrive in Canada later, for a two -day visit that is seen as a message of support for the country in the light of threats and taunted by US President Donald Trump.

Prime Minister Mark Carney, who recently won a general election on a wave of anti-Trump-sentiment, invited the royal couple and will hold a meeting with them during their stay in Ottawa.

The king will read the “Speech of the Throne” to the Parliament of Canada on Tuesday, the first time that a prince has delivered almost 50 years this first time.

It is expected that it will include a defense of the sovereignty of Canada and claims refuses that it must be taken over by the US.

A ceremonial welcome will be welcome on Monday at the airport in Ottawa and meetings with community groups, which are expected to include representatives of Canada’s First Nation communities.

The king will meet the first indigenous governor -general Mary Simon of Canada.

This is the first visit of the king and the queen to Canada since the start of their reign, after a planned journey last year was canceled because of the diagnosis of Charles’ cancer.

By reading the speech from the throne, the king follows in the footsteps of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who performed the duty twice during her long reign in 1957 and 1977.

But this week’s timing was seen as a sign of solidarity with Canada, after calls from Trump for the country to become the 51st US state.

The American threat has inflamed public opinion with some companies in Ottawa, as elsewhere in Canada, which shows the national identity, such as “pride Canadian” posters.

Carney, when he visited Trump in the White House earlier this month, emphasized that Canada was “not for sale” and that message will probably be transferred to the speech of the king written on the advice of the Canadian government of Canada.

Former Canadian High Commissioner of the UK Jeremy Kinsman said that this was a message that the king would like to deliver.

“It will be very affirming for Canadian sovereignty. And I can personally say that it is something that King Charles will celebrate.

The speech, to be given in French and English, will explain the policy agenda of the Canadian government in a way that is comparable to the King’s speech at the state opening of parliament in Westminster.

But it is also expected that it has lines that claim the independence of Canada – a Commonwealth Country and NATO member.

Carney spoke before the king’s visit and the state opening: “This is a historical honor that corresponds to the weight of our time.”

As for the ceremony, the king is expected to wear a suit, in an event that is more withheld than the crown and extensive robes that can be seen in the opening of the VK parliament.

In addition to the speech in parliament, this short journey will include community events in Ottawa and an opportunity to meet local leaders.

This royal visit will be a diplomatic balance. The king is head of both Canada and the UK – and in his British role, the king helped to maintain good relationships with the US and to send a warm personal letter to President Trump who invites him to a second state visit.

In Canada he is expected to reflect a completely different message, whereby Trump’s Canadian government rejects Trump’s ambition to take over the country.

Prior to the visit, a royal source said: “The king has a long experience and great skill in walking that diplomatic cord.

“He has held high all over the world and in the political spectrum, with good relationships with world leaders who understand his unique position.”
