A man in Norway woke up to discover that a huge container ship had run the ground and crashed into his front garden.

The 135m ship (443ft) missed Johan Helberg’s house by meters at around 5:00 AM Local time (3:00 GMT) on Thursday.

Mr Helberg was only informed of the commotion by his panic neighbor who had viewed the ship while the right went to the coast, in Byneset, near Trondheim.

“The doorbell called at a time of the day that I didn’t like to open,” Mr Helberg told Television Canal TV2.

“I went to the window and was quite surprised to see a large ship,” he added, In an interview with The Guardian.

“I had to bow my neck to see the top of it. It was so unreal.”

Neighbor Jostein Jorgensen said he was awakened by the sound of the ship while it went to the land at full speed and ran to Mr Helberg’s house.

“I was sure he was already outside, but no, there was no sign of life. I often called the doorbell and nothing,” said Mr. Jorgensen.

“And it was only when I called him on the phone that I was able to contact him,” he said TV2.

The Cypriot flag freight ship, the NCL Salten, had 16 people on board and traveled to the southwest through the Trondheim Fjord to Orkanger when it went out of the race.

Nobody was injured in the incident, AFP News Agency reported.

It is not known what caused the crash and the Norwegian police are said to investigate.

“It is a very large new neighbor, but it will soon disappear,” Mr Helberg added.

According to reports, the ship had shone earlier in 2023, but it was free under its own power.
