The fan who fell on tragic from an outfield wall in PNC Park on Wednesday was identified as Kavan Markwood -A 20-year-old former university football player.
A spokesperson for the South Allegheny School District – where Markwood played his high school football – confirmed Triblive On Thursday it is Markwood who is currently fighting for his life in a hospital in Pittsburgh area after he during the game Pirates vs. Cubs to the warning track tumbled.
“Everyone in South Allegheny would say that he is a hard -working, very resilient young man,” the district representative, Laura Thomsonsaid. “He is a hunter. He now needs that resilience.”
She added: “He has touched many lives in South Allegheny. We are a small community. He is a household name here. Everyone knows him.”
“He has the prayers and support of the Zuid -allegheny community.”
Markwood was injured in the seventh inning of the MLB tilt – when he apparently tried to celebrate a big game on the field. Trainers from both the cubs and the pirates race to take care of him and after a few minutes of delay, they could tie him to a stretcher and take him to a nearby hospital.
Authorities said on Thursday morning that his first situation was “critical” … although no updates have been given since then.
According to Markwood’s Wheeling University Athletics Page, he played Linebacker for the Cardinals in 2023. For that he spent time at Walsh University.
His ex-wheeled coach, Zac Bruneytold TMZ Sports On Thursday, Markwood had left the program for work in 2024 – but they hope he would return to the team.
“He was a very good young man,” said Bruney.

The Pirates acknowledged the tragic situation during their match against the Cubs on Thursday morning … The offering of prayers to the fan and recognizing the medical staff who helped him to the hospital.
