Noord -Korea Greetings The First Wegbrug to Russia

Noord -Korea has said that the development of the first road bridge to Russia is an “important” milestone in relations between the two countries, according to the state media of the country of KCNA.

The construction of the bridge – set up to span the tumen river in the northeast of the country – began on Wednesday. It will be located near the only other land connection between Russia and Noord -Korea -a Soviet era rail bridge called the ‘Friendship Bridge’.

The bridge is planned for completion in mid -2026, according to the Russian newspaper Kommersant.

It comes shortly after North Korea confirmed for the first time That it had sent troops to support Russia in his war against Ukraine.

The new bridge is the newest sign of deepening of the tires between the two heavily sanctioned countries, which have come closer since Russia launched its full invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Plans for the new bridge were decided during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Visit Pyongyang last yearWhere he signed an agreement about “extensive strategic partnership” with Noord -Korea – the highest level of bilateral tires for Moscow.

During a ceremony that marks the start of the construction of the bridge, the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishhustin said that the bridge was “much further than just a technical task”.

“It symbolizes our common desire to strengthen friendly, good neighbor relationships and increase interregional cooperation,” he added.

The construction of the bridge started on the same day that the South Korean legislators said that more than 600 North Korean troops had been killed, fighting for Russia in his war against Ukraine, referring to their intelligence officers.

In exchange for military support, Moscow Pyongyang seemed to have offered technical assistance on spy satellites, drones and anti-air missiles, they added.

Earlier this week, Noord -Korea said that his soldiers had helped in “completely free” the Russian Kursk region, eight months after the surprise of Ukraine.

Ukraine says that some of his troops are still in the Russian region.
