Rapper Tory Lanez was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed in a prison in California, said civil servants of the state corrections.
The Canadian hip -hop artist was attacked on Tuesday morning by another prisoner in a residential unit in the California Correctional Institution in Tehahapi, about 75 miles (120 km) north of Los Angeles.
Prison staff “responded, activated 911 and started medical help” before Lanez, 31, was brought to a local medical facility for further treatment, said Pedro Calderón Michel of the Corrections of the State.
Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, is a 10-year prison sentence for the shooting of fellow musician Megan Yhe Stallion at a party in 2020.
No information was provided about the condition of Lanez, but reports in the media indicate that his injuries were non-lifferring.
