There is a rescue mission to reach several people who are buried in an avalanche on the Eiger Mountain in the Swiss Alps, the local police say.
The avalanche took place shortly after noon on Saturday, the Bern Cantonal Police said in a statement on social media.
They said they had launched a large -scale operation with various rescue teams who were looking for people.
De Eiger is a peak of 3,967 m (13,000 ft) near the tourist resorts of Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Wengen.
