BBC News in New York Court
The star witness of the prosecutors, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura, took the position on Tuesday in the process of sex trade in Hiphopmogul, who accused the rapper of controlling her life and force her to “humiliating” sexual acts.
Mr. Combs is not guilty of charges, including racketeering -entry, sex trade and transport to enter into prostitution.
Family and friends have come to court in large numbers to support Mr. Combs, whose legal team has not yet questioned Mrs. Ventura.
Mrs Ventura, who is pregnant, told officers of Justice about the alleged physical and emotional abuse that she ended by the rapper during the so-called “freak-offs”, or sexual encounters that the couple had with male escorts.
Here are some of the most striking parts of her first five hours of witness.
Warning: This story contains details that some readers may find disturbing.
Officers of Justice started interrogating Mrs Ventura of their two central witnesses in the case-over her 11-year-old, on and out of relationship with Mr. Combs.
Now 38 and pregnant in her third trimester with her third child, Mrs. Ventura met Mr. Combs when she was a 19-year-old prospective singer and he was 37. Mr. Combs’ record label would later sign Mrs. Ventura as an artist, and shortly thereafter their romantic relationship began.
Their relationship progressed about a series of different journeys. At that time, she testified, she felt that they had a monogamous relationship, although she now knows that he had other friends.
She said she “fell in love” with the “bigger than life entrepreneur and musician”. But it didn’t take long before she saw another side for him, she said.
Mr. Combs wanted to “control her life,” said Ventura. She said he paid for her house, her cars, her phone and other technology that he would sometimes take away to “punish” her.
“Control was everything from the way I looked … to what I was working on,” said Mrs. Ventura.
Eventually, she claimed, the control became violent. Mr. Combs would “overthrow me on my head, drag me and kick me”, Mrs. Ventura testified, sometimes by tears.
She claimed that she had been left with swollen lips, black eyes and knots on her forehead.
Officers of Justice spent hours asking Mrs. Ventura about so-called “freak-offs”.
Mrs. Ventura told the court how Mr Combs introduced her to the sexual events during the first year of their relationship: They would hire a male escort or stripper to have sex with Mrs. Ventura while Mr. Combs looked.
Mrs. Ventura told the court that for the first time she was trying to “make Mr. Combs” happy “. But she said they humiliated her and sometimes lasted three to four days.
“I felt pretty terrible about myself,” she told the court, those tears. “I felt worthless.”
Mrs. Ventura told the court that she never wanted sex with someone other than Mr. Combs, and claimed that she would take countless drugs – Marihuana, Ecstasy and Ketamine – to help her act to the satisfaction of Mr Combs, but also to “loosen”.
The drugs were “a way not to feel it for what it really was,” she said, “having sex with a stranger with whom I didn’t really want sex”.
While prosecutors put pressure on Mrs. Ventura about the “freak-offs”, she told the court about how Mr. Combs would instruct her to find male escorts, strippers or dancers to have sex while he watched.
She claimed that Mr Combs would pay the men everywhere from $ 1500 to $ 6,000 cash, depending on their performance.
They found the men through stripper companies and sites such as Craigslist. Some of their photos were shown to the jury members, including Daniel Phillip, who previously finished his testimony on Tuesday.
Mrs Ventura and Mr. Combs had the claimants in cities around the world, including Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas and Ibiza, Spain, Mrs. Ventura testified.
Sometimes men would be flown in during holidays, she claimed, and Mr. Combs would instruct her to ask the staff to pay and arrange their journey, so that they called new employees.
Coins, among other things, try to prove officers of justice that Mr. Combs is involved in sex trade – human trafficking for sexual exploitation – and transport to prostitution.
While prosecutors pressed MS Ventura for graphic details, a key element arose: Mrs. Ventura claimed that Mr. Combs checked every part of the meetings.
He opted for the outfits she wore – to the extremely high heels that she stayed for hours – as well as the sexual acts that happened and the lighting, Mrs. Ventura told jury members.
“If Sean wanted something to happen, it would have happened,” she said. “I couldn’t say no.”
Sometimes, Mrs. Ventura said, she would take the lead on which male escorts to rent in because Mr Combs was “very busy”, but she only did this in his direction, she said.
She said that freak-offs had a very specific “pattern” of sexual acts every time.
“He checked the whole situation,” she claimed. “He directed it.”
Sometimes, Mrs. Ventura said, she tried to tell Mr Combs that she felt “terrible”. But when he rejected her worries, she said, she admitted that he was afraid that he would get angry or question their relationship.
Mrs Ventura is expected to continue her testimony on Wednesday, if she could also be confronted with cross -hearing.
