A Chinese paraglider has survived that he has accidentally driven 8,500 m (27,800 ft) in the air above north -western China reports the state media.
Peng Yujiang tested new equipment on the Qilian Mountains on Saturday, when a rare Updraft or airflow known as a “cloud sucking” pulled it higher in the air.
Mr Peng barely survived death – oxygen levels are thin at that height and temperatures can fall to -40C.
The Chinese authorities investigate the incident and Mr Peng was suspended for six months because the flight was unauthorized, the state reported Global Times.
