Chief coach Hull Kr Willie Peters described Mikey Lewis “danger” before the Hull Derby in the Challenge Cup after showing the promise to improve even more, just days after becoming a father.
Lewis scored and Hat-Trick against Huddersfield at the weekendBut Peters are convinced that there are more from a steel man.
Hull FC will host its local rivals Hull Kr in a wild but friendly derby in the quarterfinals of the Challenge Cup.
“His (Lewis” Best will be ahead of us and I know it can be scary because of what he did last weekend, “Peters said Sky Sports. “He certainly showed his class.
“I said it after the game, I don’t think we’re a 50-point better team than Huddersfield, but what was a key difference was some individuals on our side and sometimes Mikey Lewis class.
“He gained three attempts, built three more or anything that it was, and all day was a headache for defense.
“When the ball is running, it’s a danger. But I think it will improve all year.”
John Wilkin, Sky Sports Rugby League The expert, repeated how impressive it was to watch.
“I think there is only a handful of players who really excite me because I don’t know what I’m going to watch when I appear,” he said.
“Bevan French is one of them and Mikey Lewis is another where they just do things.
“But it’s not necessarily its complication that impressed me.
“It’s his attitude, his diligence, his thoughtfulness and preparing for how he is preparing for games.”
“It’s no longer a child”
Peters added that Lewis became a father on Tuesday, so he expects it to be an emotional week for Hull Kr.
“It will be for me the next week and another example of its growth, how it processes a week, and then deals with play,” Peters said.
“I saw a significant growth in the field. Now he’s a young man. It’s no longer a child. I can only see it in how it carries.
“It’s not a finished product. We know it. He knows.
“He knows that sometimes there are areas that are still improving in and around, but have certainly taken a long way.
“Being a father for the first time, there is no better feeling and is over a month.”
