FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that the United States and the United Kingdom are ready to be named as hosts of the Women’s World Championship in 2031 and 2035.
Infantino said on Thursday the UEFA Congress in Belgrade that the common offer from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland was the only “valid offer” of interest for the 2035 tournament after the deadline, and the United States also submitted the only offer for issue 2031.
“Within the offer process, we received one offer for ’31 and one offer, a valid offer, I should add for ’35,” he said.
“’31 is from the United States and potentially some other Concacaf members, and the offer 36 is from Europe from home nations, so the way is to make the Women’s World Cup in 31 and 35 in some large countries and some large nations to further strengthen the female football movement.”
The United Kingdom never played the Women’s World Cup. England hosted the euro of women in 2022 and won the tournament at home. The men’s team last hosted the World Championship in 1966. The 2035 offer could prepare a way for the male team to host the following edition.
British project 2035 was fast Supported by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer In March, when FIFA stated that it was formally looking for offers from federations. FIFA excluded Europe from the 2031 competition and cleaned the way for the long -awaited victory in the US.
Last week, the Spanish Federation said they were hoping to be able to offer, perhaps in conjunction with Portugal and Morrocco – Trio organizes the World Championship by 2030 – but Infantino said that only one “valid offer” excludes the possibility that the ruling world champion.
“It is an honor for us that we are the only candidate for the Women’s 2035 World Cup. It will be very strange about organizing the FIFA World Cup since 1966.
The United States was the only offer to release 2031, withdrawing plans for hosting 2027, which will host Brazil. Probably in combination with several other Concacaf nations, probably Mexico, the US will host their third edition after hosting the 1999 and 2003 tournaments.
Four -time winners will be the first nation to host the tournament three times, while China hosted in 1991 and again in 2007 the World Women’s Cup.
After the successful expansion of the Australia and New Zealand tournament in 2023, the 2027 tournament will again contain 32 nations. The competition is to be expanded to 48 teams for the 2031 World Cup.
Formal offers for 2035 must be submitted this winter, with a vote next year to confirm the host at 2031 and 2035.
