When the Premier League season enters the last level, the European Spots race is warming up.
Newcastle They have already made sure of the place in the at least next season after winning the Carabao Cup.
If they also end up in the first five Premier League – or the six best if the FA Cup winners will also end up in the top five – their Play -off conferences will go to the highest team that has not been qualified to Europe in the Premier League.
Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have their word about other teams in the mix …
Manchester City
Jamie Carragher“Although Man City won, it was bad for them in the middle of the week. Leicester defeated at home while Villa went to Brighton and won. That’s a difficult game. Newcastle, after the cup victory, not easy against Brentford.
“You see all these teams win there, it’s really exciting from now to the end of the season. A lot of it will go down to the head to your head, there are so many teams-they are against each other.
“Omar Marmoush was brilliant, he has been a super -star for them since he came in, and he would have to be for the rest of the season if Erling Haaaland was out for six weeks to get there.
Gary Neville: “The FA Cup is big for the city, getting into the Champions League, but if they can win the FA Cup, it would be a fantastic season for them.
“She’s an off -season, a big extra -season. But the idea that you still get a trophy when you have a bad season and enter the Champions League is something that should not be ignored.
“When you see what they have won in the last few years, there will be a decline at some point. But if you win the trophy in the season you will not fall out, you would postpone your hand.”
Aston Villa
Neville: “I like it to end strongly. Unai Emery knows how to do it. I said at Christmas that I thought they would end strongly, but there are a lot of teams that are doing well there. Nottingham Forest in what great position they are.
“Villa is a club that Everton should look at. If you look at Everton and where they are now, the villa has been there in the last few years. Everton is a huge club and if you think, what if they had the quality of the villa, especially in wide areas? But no.”
Carragher: “It’s difficult with Villa, asking what you’d rather have. Just go on and be the driving power. They have a great group. You see the players that brought the bench in Preston. They just have to go to everything.
“I’d like to see them win the FA Cup. It would be difficult to win the Champions League. You want to win it, but sometimes there’s the feeling that in the Champions League and just get into the semifinals. Imagine that they would have teams at night!
Nottingham forest
Neville: “Do you remember Leicester a few years ago? There was a season when Manchester United was defeated and was excluded from the Champions League. There’s only a little bit for the forest. There are only eight games, but just make sure you get through the line.
“But in what great position there is a fantastic result at night and everyone wants to see them in the Champions League because of how well they did. It’s a real scrap differently.
Carragher: “It would be great for the league, just like Leicester won the league. Nottingham Forest, who got to the top four, would be fantastic. It almost looks as if they deserve it now. They have enough to stay there, they will be fine.”
Bournemouth
Carragher: “They are a bit like a forest, they were so good that you are now disappointed when you see them falling. I didn’t want them to fall away in the same way you didn’t want to see it with the forest. This blow for five or six weeks.
Chelsea
Carra: “Chelsea has been so inconsistent in the last three or four months, but they are still there. It shows how many points have dropped the teams around them. There is a real fight. The first three will do it and two more positions could be absolutely anyone.”
