Augusta, Ga. – The Masters practice was suspended late Monday morning and the audience was withdrawn from the golf course due to the deteriorating rain and threats of thunderstorms.
Augusta National planned to close the course for fans earlier in the morning, but with falling only light rain, viewers were allowed from the area for about 3½ hours.
The forecasts demanded storms throughout the afternoon, with potential for strong weather and 1 to 2 inches of rain. However, the prognosis looked promising for the rest of the week, with most solar and high temperatures at the 70s of Fahrenheit (Low 20s Celsius).
Few players embarked on training rounds on Monday and those who did it – Keegan Bradley, Matthieu pavon and Thomas DetryAmong them – he played alone.
