Augusta, Ga. – After securing two of the four main championships in what was the escape of 2024 Xander Schauffele At the beginning of this year he found himself in a mad position.
After suffering the internet tension and cartilage tearing of his chest basket during offseason, then-no. The 2 player in the world tried to play it on The Sentry Invitational. But he realized that he needed more time and rehabilitation.
Between spending more time with his wife and dogs and TV shows watching with Schauffele, he also tuned to golf and could only watch his peers tried to win tournaments he couldn’t.
“I’ve never been wondering with injuries, so I’ve never been pushed,” Schauffele told Augusta National on Monday. “I try to find all the positives to attach to the situation, and I haven’t been injured before and sit at home to think about all these thoughts.
“… watching everyone else playing golf and flying a little, it was very motivating.”
While Schaufele tried to stay patient in the middle of the healing process, the ruling PGA championship and the winner of the open championship watched as Rory McILroy overcame it for No. 2 in the official ranking of the world golf Following wins on Pebble Beach and The Players Championship.
“Rory plays incredibly well this year with a few victories and somehow passes through what looks like hard golf courses,” Schauffele said. “There are so many people who played a really high level, and fortunately I learned that I could also play at this level.”
Shovel Returned to Arnold Palmer Invitational On Bay Hill and played a total of four events leading to Masters. Although he is still rounding into a mold, he made all four cuts and ended up tied up to 12 two weeks ago.
He scored his goal there to let himself swing and feel as if he was holding the steering wheel so tightly.
“It was a process of returning to it,” Schauffele said. “I don’t have a lot of repetitions, but there’s a lot I can get back, some kind of previous achievements to make it a little growth of this trust.”
Mentally Schauffele said he believed that in the last month he turned the corner after he had gone through what he called the mourning process – where he manages a range of emotions regarding his injury, including anger, disappointment, frustration and acceptance.
Now Schauffle is starting to think about what he can do – including the victory of the third major – instead of what he can’t.
“I’d like to think I feel similar. I really don’t get woken up and feel better. I feel like the same guy,” Schauffele said. “I think there will be a big difference when I get to these places. My dream is just to have another chance to descend to the section.
“I think I said that after PGA, openly: if I can get to the place to win this thing, I feel pretty good when I do it and I did it.
Schauffele narration quickly turned from one of the best players to never win Major after winning two of the month. The topic of completing the Grand Slam at some point in his career is the performance that now seems feasible. It helps that Augusta, who said, forces him to feel like a “baby in a candy”, has proved to be a place that fits his game.
“Believe it or not, (Grand Slam victory) has always been an idea before I won one of them,” said Schauffele, who has four top ten since 2019.
