Tiger Woods will design a new nine -hole short playground near Masters as part of a new partnership with Augusta National Golf Club.
Augusta National and Woods’ architectural company TGR Design will create a new course as part of the reconstruction of the August city golf course, commonly known as the patch, located four miles from the Masters house.
The short playground will be adjacent to the 18 -hole golf course Augusta Municipal Golf, which is currently reconstructed by Tom Fazio and Beau Welling and is expected to open before Masters next April.
Woods did not participate in Augusta National for Monday’s announcement because he is still recovering from surgery after he torn Achill’s tendon last month, but appeared on the video link to think about an exciting partnership.
“The partnership with Augusta National Golf Club is really strange about the service of his surrounding community,” Woods said. “My passion for education and golf has long dates back, as is my relationship with Augusta National and the city of Augustus.
“This is a transformation opportunity to strengthen the next generation and provide meaningful educational programming and access to a fun and affordable golf. I am excited to work with Augusta National and see that both projects will become a reality.”
In addition, the Woods’ TGR Foundation will build the Lab Lab Lab in Georgia, which will provide access to science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (Steam) education and opportunities for young people.
Fred Ridley, chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and Masters Tournament, said that partnership with the former world no. 1 will help enrich access to high -quality educational programming and affordable Golf in Augusta.
“Today’s announcement is an important milestone for Augusta and deepens the connections that our community has with one of our biggest masters Tiger Woods,” Ridley said.
“We are grateful for a partner with the TGR foundation and invest together in the August Community. This partnership in the TGR Lab Laba laboratory reflects our common interest in increasing access to high quality programming and impact on the next generation in a tangible way.
“The core of our efforts on the patch is a commitment to create an affordable and calling on a golf experience. The same meaning will be placed on creating opportunities to learn and fall in love with the game as well as the development of a gas pipeline in the golf industry.”
