In the episode of The Netflix Docuseries “The Clubhouse: Year with Red Sox”, Duran said he tried suicide After fighting at the beginning of his baseball career.
“It was not easy to talk about it, but it was important,” Duran said in a statement published on the team after broadcasting the episode on Tuesday. “I knew that if I share it, I had to be real about it.
“A few years ago I found myself in a dark place, but I’m still here and I’m so lucky that I am. And if my story can help one person, then it was worth saying.”
Duran was the seventh round last season, which was All-Star last season, and was one of the best Bassyballa prospects when he was called to the main leagues in 2021. But he fought soon and spent most of his first two seasons among the main and minors.
Duran said in the documents that the expectations of fans and the media wore it and that he sometimes felt that players were treated as “animal animals”.
He said he was even harder for himself.
“I couldn’t deal with the fact that I was wondering how much I suck every day,” Duran said in the documents. “I’ve heard it from fans. And what they told me (it’s not like), I didn’t say ten times worse in the mirror. That was really hard for me. I didn’t even want to be here anymore.”
Director Greg Whitey then asked, “When you say,” Here, “think” here with Red Sox “or” here on planet Earth “?”
“Probably both,” Duran said. He then described his suicide attempt.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said on Monday that Duran’s decision to tell his story would save his lives. The President of the Sam Kennedy team called it “an act of courage that goes far beyond baseball”.
“Opening shows others who may be struggling to be alone and that the request for help is not just right, it is necessary,” Kennedy said. “Every member of this organization is still standing with him. He has our deepest admiration, he has always had our full support, and we are incredibly happy to have it as part of our team.”
Duran’s parents, Octavio and Dena Duran, said on Tuesday that they had only recently learned the depths of their son’s mental health.
“It was heartbreaking to hear,” they said. “We are grateful that he is still here, that he has found the courage to continue and use his voice to help others. If his story can help one person, then it was worth sharing. We are incredibly proud of the man who is today and love him more than we can say.
Jarren Duran said on Tuesday that he wanted to turn his attention back to the baseball season. In his last four games he has six hits, with two doubles on Monday evening after the details of his comments in the document were reported.
“I’m focusing on the field right now,” Duran said in his statement. “We have postseason to chase, and that’s where my head is. I shared what I needed to share, and I appreciate that I understand everyone’s understanding right now on baseball and helping my team to win the world series.
“I am grateful for the huge support I have received. If you are fighting, please know that there is help. You can call a friend, a trusted person, a doctor or an organization like Samaritans. And if you are in immediate danger, call 988.”
