Barry Ferguson revealed that Rangers had led a “long, long” discussion after Saturday’s loss of Hibernian when they were preparing to face the athletic bilbau in the European League.
The Rangers lost five matches in Ibrox with Ferguson, who still won the home game because he replaced Philippe Clement as the head coach until the end of the season.
It was not by far the ideal preparation for Thursday, although European football was Bangers’s shrine during the daunting home campaign.
“We got on Monday morning and let’s just say we had a long, long chat. I broadcast my opinions, just like my staff, as well as the players I was happy with – I said before I think we were too silence,” said former midfielder Rangers.
“I want people to be opinions, I want people to discuss with each other, and I have found that it is really useful, and now hopefully I will go forward, I will start to see a little more consistency.
“We played really well in some games. In other games it was just a completely different team, and that’s something we hope to have at the bottom.
“I expect a completely different performance. Five games without winning Ibrox are simply not good enough.
“I’d rather leave it in the house (what was said). But I thought the time was right to spend a little time with them and go through a lot of things I wasn’t apparently happy with.
“It is also good to get your opinion because we have to get to its bottom. It was a real problem.
“I came out of the meeting, the training was lively on Monday. That’s what I want, I don’t want someone to mopil and be unhappy. A lot of things were said.
“We had a good session on Tuesday. We are absolutely clear how we approach the rest of the season, not just Thursday evening.”
Ferguson promised and A series of changes and stylish switches After their last defeat and insists that he is happy to make hard calls.
“Now I told everyone, there are places to catch,” he added.
“When you go to my team and play, you have to earn the right to play in the team. And I had to do or I will probably have to make some difficult decisions for the future.
“Since I came to work, I’ve had to make some difficult decisions. But it’s one thing I’m not afraid to do to try and improve the team.
“But I have a job to choose an XI that I think is an XI that will go and win the game and that’s what I did on Thursday evening.”
Goalkeeper Jack Butland has come under increased control in recent weeks, with a number of expensive mistakes, including defeat 2-0 for HIBS, but Ferguson would not be drawn on whether his place was at stake.
“Players make mistakes and players may be an integral part of football,” he continued.
“Sometimes it’s hard. Many of them have gone through myself and might not play a few players at a level that I would like and what I would expect.
“But when it comes to changes, I won’t sit here and tell you what happens.
“I won’t say whether I had an interview with Jack or another player.
“I won’t sit here and tell you that I will play it, and this is the formation we will play – I would be crazy.
