Willie Mullins still goes to the maximum of Saturday’s Grand National Success, the victory has done the more strange for the master coach with his son Patrick Nick Rockett via the front line.

“We had so many runners in the race, but my eyes were only at Patrick all the time,” Mullins said.

Nick Rockett led 1-2-3 for a national coach and added a huge pot of winning money when Mullins closed the gap Dan Skelton in the title race, with just weeks to the final of the season in Sandown.

On Tuesday it was confirmed that Celebre d’Alen died, days after collapse on the track shortly before the finish line in Aintree.
Mullins wanted to iterate the safety protocols introduced on the track and a huge improvement made over the years.
“It’s a much safer race,” he said. “As older jockeys say, it’s nothing like a race when we rode.
“It was almost 25 to 30 years ago and the fact that we have 1 million GBP shows that the magic and romance of the race is still there.
“It shows what can be done with the right promotion and attitude.
“We take care of horses and jockeys better than ever. We love our horses as if we were doing our best friends and brothers and sisters. Our employees are here all the time of day care for horses.”
