FIA president for Sport Robert Reid resigned and quoted the “division of standards” in the Formula 1 management body.
It is the latest resignation at the FIA in the last 18 months, because Reid seems to have dropped out with President Mohammed Ben Sulay.
Reid has been vice -chairman since he was elected Ben Sulay at the end of 2021, who took part in his first F1 race this weekend this weekend at the Grand Prix Bahrain.
“When I took over this role, it was supposed to serve the FIA members; not to serve much,” Reid said in his statement Sky Sports News.
“Over time, I have witnessed the constant erosion of the principles that we promised to follow. The decisions are taken behind the closed door, circumvention of the structures themselves and the people that the FIA exists.
“My resignation is not about personalities; these are principles. Motorsport deserves leadership that is responsible, transparent and controlled by members. I can no longer remain part of the system that does not reflect these values.”
Last year, several higher figures broke up with the FIA, including its sports director, technical director F1, digital director, commercial legal affairs manager, administration and director of the regulatory director, race director, women’s head of motoring, Mobility and Communication General.
The most remarkable was the Niels Wittich race director and Tim Mayer manager, who was effectively released last November.
Sky Sports News proceeded to the FIA to express.
Former CEO reveals challenges on FIA
The former CEO of FIA Natalie Robyn spoke about the F1 government body for the first time after leaving her role in May 2024.
“During my term of office of CEO, I worked in difficult circumstances to strengthen the framework for the management of the federation and upgrade its operational transparency,” she said BBC Sport.
“The resignation of the vice -chairman of the sport clearly suggests that there are serious continuing structural challenges.
“If the professional processes are not followed and the parties are excluded from decision -making, it will undermine the foundation of a strong organization.
“I feel sad to see this development because they threaten credibility and long -term effectiveness of an important institution.”
What’s the matter on the FIA?
Ben Sulay was surrounded by controversy in the last 12 months after the FIA whistler accused him of interfering with the result of the Saudi Arab Grand Prix 2023.
The 63 -year -old man was also accused of telling FIA officials not to prove the Grand Prix Las Vegas 2023 Grand Prix. Both statements were rejected.
Lewis Hamilton was criticized using a stereotypical language by comparing the rappers in an interview, talking about he wanted to see a less disgusting language on his team radio. At that time, the FIA refused to comment.
In December, the FIA voted through controversial changes to the rules that would effectively limit the ways that its management could be considered responsible.
Changes meant that the FIA Ethics Committee would make an initial assessment to determine whether an in -depth investigation was necessary. FIA Ben Sulay and the President of the Senate, Carmelo Sanz de Barros, will have the power to decide whether to take further steps to any ethical complaints.
The FIA is also sued by the director of the Academy F1 Susie Wolff after investigating the conflict of interest and husband this Wolff in December 2023, which was abandoned after two days.
Motorsport UK chairman David Richards is also in a dispute with Ben Sulay, who is ready to re -election and currently unaffected.
