Anna McGann scored a hat -trick when Ireland beat Italy in the women’s six nations
Anna McGann required a hat-trick when Ireland swept Italy 54-12 in Parma to record the long-awaited victory in six nations of women Guinness.
The Irish last celebrated success on the road in the 2021 tournament and came in the opening round after defeat to France, but compiled a fine versatile performance as they ran in eight attempts at Sergio Lanfranchi.
McGann crossed twice in the first half and finished things with another late score at the final moments, while Dannah O’Brien in the display without a state -of -the -art display set off seven conversions.
Italy was against it from off, Valeria Fedrighi sent Sin in the initial minutes of high tools and Aoife Dalton was first used.
McGann followed his first two attempts, and Amee-Leigh Costigan also walked, while Sofia Stefan went to Italy at 28-5 visitors.
The Irish props Linda Djougang moved again in the second half when they took another converted attempt, but then the yellow card was for head contact.
Dorothy Wall and Brittany Hogan forced the way when Ireland continued to accumulate points, and although Beatrice Rigoni converted its own attempt to reduce arrears, McGann closed things through the third dash on the line.
