The adolescent sprints of the sensational DNA lost in Peter Norman Memorial 200m in the Maurie Meet race in Melbourne.
Gout Gout, now 17, became the fastest sixteen -year -old when he ran 200 meters in 20.04 seconds in December at the Australian school championships and defeated the national record, which took place since the 1968 Olympics by Peter Norman.
However, before the sold -out crowd on Maurie Plant Meet, Gout Gout finished 200 m in second place when the 21 -year -old Lachlan Kennedy pulled him a personal best time of 20.26.
DNA, the youngest in the race by four years, threw 20.30 for its second place.
“I don’t operate many Twos (200 m), so it’s a little different for me. I’m glad I’m here,” said Kennedy Channel 7.
“Australian sprinting is right now, depth is crazy. We have everywhere you look, good runners. To be in front of the gout, it’s a legend, it will do many great things. It’s an absolute privilege being part of this group.
“I knew he would come, so my goal was just to detain him. I think five more meters would certainly have me,” Kennedy added.
Gout Gout said Channel 7: “Getting these races is definitely great, these races help build my confidence and help me think about what I have to do.
“(Attention) is definitely great, but it also comes with the pressure and expectations of people around the world.
“Comparison with (Usain) Bolt, comparison with almost everyone – it’s daunting, but you know me, I just keep it simple and keep it running.”
