Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresa said that Liam Delap can become a “best player” but insists that the ideal goal of the club is a “copy” of their current No. 9 Nicolas Jackson.
Sources said that ESPN Competition Chelsea Face from Manchester United Sign Delap this summer and that it could be available for 40 million GBP ($ 52 million) if Ipswich are included.
Maresa who previously worked with the delap on Manchester CityAcademy, she said England Youth International will be the “enemy” on Sunday, when Chelsea hosts Ipswich, but still appreciates its properties.
“As far as numbers are concerned, doing fantastically,” Maresa said. “It’s not just in terms of his numbers. The way he plays and fights and is always there”. But he’s an ipswich player.
“It’s very good. I know liam out of five, six years ago. It can be the best player, all depending on him.”
Dela scored 12 times in his girl Premier League Season after connecting to Ipswich from the city and Chelsea has been fighting for goals since Jackson’s injury in early February.
But while Chelsea has long been associated with a move for the attacker, Maresco – in a discussion of Delap style – reaffirmed her faith in Jackson, who has this league campaign of nine goals.
“Compare Liam (Delap) with Harry Kane and Erling Haaland“I think it’s a little early,” Maresa said. All of them are real nine. There are nine inside the box.
“But we also have a good nine (in Jackson). We are doing well from the beginning. Unfortunately we missed him and sometimes you have to miss the players to realize how important they are.
“We are with Nico compared to when he was injured, we are a completely different team. We are happy with Nico as our attacker.”
Maresa pressed the summer goals Chelsea and added: “My perfect No. 9 is exactly Nico Jackson. We already have No. 9. Now it’s not summer.
“If we can have a copy of Nico, it’s okay. I said many times and you can also see with Nico we are a better team. Nico is the one we need. Last season he scored goals without attempts. This season he scored goals until he was injured.
Chelsea is fourth in the table before Sunday’s game while Ipswich lies 18 ..
