Mikkel Damsgaard was only 18 years old when the then Nordsjaelland technical director Flemming Pedersen called him the biggest view in Denmark by Michael Laudrup.
Probably it was not useful to put so much pressure on a player who is still in his teenagers, who has just finished the breakthrough season with the club.
Damsgaard himself took a pinch of salt. “I have a good relationship with him, but sometimes he says crazy things,” he recalled later. But the prophecy like this has set players for a fall.

The fortress, even at a time when he was 23, seemed that Damsgaard could be the latest miracle that he could not fulfill his billing. It wasn’t very hard.
But for four years affected by the EURO 2020 lighting, including scoring against England in the semifinals and becoming the youngest Dane, who scored at the European Championship, Damsgaard finally shows what he spoke of his country at such a young age.
Adapting the talent of one of the largest midfielder in history was and remains a long shot. But even the competition with the best Premier League league looked the same unlikely for most of its time in the division since the surprise of moving to Brentford in 2022.

Connecting to the growing Danish contingent at the GTE Community, including the head coach Thomas Frank, Captain Christian Norgaard, Damsgaard’s move may never have happened if he was not in the last season in Sampdory as a result of reactive diagnosis of arthritis.
Bees hoped things would improve, but during 2022/23 and 2023/24 created only 16 league starts, produced two assists and no goals.
“I could say that I lost a little my sparks,” he says Sky Sports. But it certainly came back. He was a revelation this season. Not the first in Brentford colors, but among the most contrasting. He sits second in assistance charts behind Trent Alexander-Arnold.
His numbers of his coincidence will be placed among those like Mo Salah, Cole Palmer and Bruno Fernandes. They are elite numbers and bees have a gem on their hands. But without patience to support a 24 -year -old man during his harder times, maybe they have never happened.
“Many coaches wouldn’t give you as much time as Thomas Frank with me,” he adds. “It is hard to say exactly what would happen, but I certainly appreciate the confidence that we will come back and get off.
“He showed a lot of faith in me and believed in me. This season he gave me these chances and I certainly had to work for it and show that I was ready, but still believed all the way.
“There are a lot of times when he wanted more from me, and it helped me build on what I had to do.”
This season, Damsgaard has already carried out 27 league starts, more than any campaign since 2019/20 with Nordsjaelland.
Getting these minutes under the belt was one thing, but the way he finally managed to shine in the Premier League was quite another.
What would he think if he was told, how would the campaign go when he returned from the European Championships? “I would think it was a bit crazy,” he says.
“I was hoping to get much more time to play, but continue to get 10 Premier League assists is much better than I would think.”
The way Damsgaard plays is somewhat ironic, he will always tax on his body and sometimes tested it this season.
Like his creative spark, Damsgaard has the highest number of finals of the third property in the role of all events that suit his game down to the ground.
He was once associated with some of the largest European clubs and may have put them in a high warning this season with his injuries, which seemingly behind, but instead committed his future to the bees by signing a new four -year agreement at the beginning of this season.

“We could say that there was an element of repayment of their faith,” he says. “It was a pretty easy decision for me, I’m very happy here.
“I just wanted to continue with it and stay with this club that feels at home. It is very nice compared to other clubs – we have very good friendship, of course there are still different groups and sometimes we talk. But the atmosphere is great.”
This atmosphere has long resonated on the playground with Brentford’s results against the traditional Big Six and all of them left with a bloody nose at once. Arsenal has been doing better than some rivals since they lost in Brentford’s first Premier League in 2021, and since then he won all his meetings.
But when Gunners probably have more priorities with the quarterfinal of the Champions League of both sides of the latest game between the two sides, Damsgaard feels that there may be an opportunity to strike.
“Of course it is a hard team, but they have two games against Real Madrid on both sides. Maybe they are a little focused on these games, but every Premier League team knows how hard it is to win.
“You have to bring your A-Hru to win even if you are arsenal or Liverpool. If they don’t bring it, we’ll have a very good chance of winning in the game. Never a game we think we can’t win.”
