The Duke heads for Final Four, which consists of all seeds No. 1 as a favorite to win the National Championship.
Blue Devils were +105 to win the title in ESPN Bet after four finals were set on Sunday. Florida is the second favorite of +275, followed by Houston (+450) and Auburn (+500). The Duke opened as a 4.5-point favorite over Houston in their semifinal match on Saturday in San Antonio. Gators opened as a 2.5-point popular over Auburn in the second semifinal.
Blue Devils started the tournament as popular and still have to be attacked and won four games for an average margin of 23.5 points. They attracted more bets and more money to win the National Championship than any other school in a regular season in more sports books and remain responsibility for most shops.
“The Duke was our best team coming to a good span tournament, and the patrons continued to support them with a high degree due to their performance,” said Adrian Horton, director of North American sports trading in ESPN Bet. “As far as responsibility is concerned, it is the Duke all the way.”
Patrick Berbert, who oversees the university basketball chances of Caesars Sportsbook, said his shop was in a similar place entering the last week of the tournament.
“At this point, we are strong supporters of anyone who is able to get upset against this impressive team of the Duke,” Berbert said. “We are great with all other teams.”
Overall, the tournament was the smallest upset for decades. With the three games remaining, popular bets are 51-13 straight, the 2007 tournament for the best record for the favorite, as the fields spread in 1985.
