Eddie Howe will lack the Sunday Premier League game against Manchester United after being admitted to the hospital.
Howe was admitted to the hospital late on Friday “After a few days he felt good,” Newcastle said in a statement.
The club statement continued: “Magpies head coach was admitted to the hospital on Friday evening when he felt good for several days.
“Eddie medical staff kept Eddie in the hospital overnight for other tests that are taking place. He is conscious and talks to his family and continues to receive professional medical care.
“Everyone in Newcastle United expands its best wishes Eddie for quick recovery and other updates will follow at the right time.”
Howe’s assistants, Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will lead the team for Game in St. James’ Park, which starts at 16:30, lives on Sky Sports.
Tindall stood for Howe at a press conference before the club match.
Howe led Newcastle to their first home trophy for 70 years last month with the final victory of the Carabao Cup over Liverpool in Wembley.
He has been in charge of Tyneside since November 2021, followed by Steve Bruce.
Newcastle is currently seventh on the Premier League table and is offered to ensure the qualification of the Champions League after the success of the cup.
