Rory McIlroy became only the sixth golfer in history -and only the second since 1966 -to complete his career Grand Slam with his exciting Masters victory when he detained Justin Rose in Play -off.
McIlroy recovered from the loss of his two-advantageous advantages overnight with an opening opening with a double bogey to stretch forward by four, just to throw away his closure of six holes and be forced into the playoffs.
But McIlroy eventually appeared triumphant Thanks to the amazing approach to three tracks from PIN when playing 18, to win the first main victory in 11 years, the fifth overall title and the first in Augusta National to complete the Grand Slam career.
Here we look at six players who won all four big companies since the Masters era began in 1934 …
Rory McILroy
McIlroy’s persecution about the Grand Slam career has long been speaking during his 11-year-old big drought, especially because he missed a great chance to win Masters as a 21-year-old in 2011.
At that time, he lost the lead in the final round of the four-ranking and seemed to be repeating 14 years later. McIlroy, who led two until the last day, saw that he disappeared immediately when the double introduction of the opening hole, and after 13.
In the end, the Northern IR would not be denied and emerged victoriously in the most dramatic possible style of the playoffs with Rose, McILroy talks about Grand Slam “Burden” finally rose from his shoulders.
That was his 11th attempt to complete it. The longest of the previous five players before securing the fourth large companies were three attempts.
After the victory of McIlroy, Tiger Woods – the last player who won the Grand Slam in 2000 – congratulated him for social media and wrote on X: “Welcome to the club.”
Tiger Woods
Woods is the youngest player who won all four main tournaments. Together with Jack Nicklaus, he is also the only player to win each of the four large companies on at least three different occasions.
The fifteen -time main winner also remains the only player who won all four large companies when his triumph in 2001 followed on the back of victory in the other three in 2000.
Woods completed the first of the two career Grand Slams at the age of 24 by won in 2000 by Open in ST Andrews, which was part of the “Tiger Slam” culminating in the Masters 2001 victory.
He seemed to be destined to Eclipse Nicklaus 18 main victories, only for injury to cause confusion on his second part of his career, but for the stunning fifth success in August National in 2019 – his first main title for 11 years after winning 2008 US Open in Torrey Pines.
Jack nicklaus
Nicklaus, who leads a journey with 18 large companies, won his first title in 1962 at the US Open in Oakmont through the 18 -year victory over Arnold Palmer.
The first of the three career Grand Slams completed at the age of 26 with victory in 1966 at the Open in Muirfield after winning the third green jacket of his career at the beginning of the year.
Nicklaus won his last title in 1986 in Masters at the age of 46, while he was also a runner on the main 19 occasions during his shimmering career.
Ben Hogan
Hogan was 40 when he finished his Grand Slam by winning the only open championship in which he had ever played during his extremely successful career, the 1953 edition in Carnoustie.
In the same year he also won the Masters and the US Open, but was unable to reach the Grand Slam calendar at the PGA Championship this year due to the conflict of data with Open. He is the only player to win the Masters, the US Open and open titles in the same year.
He previously won the Masters and the US Open and had to wait six starts before he secured the Grand Slam after he claimed the third stage at the Masters 1951.
Gary Player
The player, the nine -time main winner of the championship, completed the Grand Slam at the age of 29 at the US Open US Open in Bellerive, the only time he won the event.
The South African was the only non -American on the list before McILroy’s addition. In 1962 he claimed the third stage of the Grand Slam in his career at the PGA championship, only a year after he won his first major in 1961. It was another 10 main starts to secure his fourth stage.
The last main victory of the player was in Augusta National in 1978, his third green jacket when he postponed three players – including Tom Watson – in one move. Watson is one of the 13 players with three careers by slamming in their name because he did not win the PGA championship.
Gene
Sarazen, the seven -time main winner, for the first time Major won at the US Open 1922 as a 20 -year -old.
He finished his career Grand Slam at the age of 33 by won Masters in 1935, the second year of the tournament, when last year missed the opening edition for the “previous commitment” to play an exhibition match in South America.
Sarazen’s Albatross in 15th place in the final round – “Shot Heard Arourt Arourt athips Arourt athion” – at his first performance in Augusta remains one of the most famous shots in golf history and made him become the first member of the Grand Slam winners from the modern era.
