Charlotte, NC – head coach Charles Lee undoubtedly about his offseason expectations Charlotte Hornets Cornerstone Point Guard Lamelo ball.
“It must be stronger,” Lee said on Monday after interviews with the team departure.
Opposition teams regularly increased their defensive pressure on the ball this season and tried to get 6-Naha-7, 190-pounder out of their game by extra physical and using hands and body controls on the perimeter and body to travel to the trash. On the other hand, the balls would often go right after the ball, attacked him from dribling and retreated to the lane and forced him to defend himself.
At the beginning of the season, Ball tried to avoid unpleasant difficulties and even disappeared from some games, but his defense improved during the season.
“The teams are trying to deny him, trying to be physical and you can see it at the beginning of the year when the teams did, it certainly bother him,” Lee said. “When he got used to it, he got much more comfortable, so he starts with his body. It must be stronger and more conditional to play both sides of the ball and maintain effort.
Lee wouldn’t say how much weight – or muscle – he wants Ball to dress and say it’s on the conditioning staff of the team.
Ball expressed his willingness to listen.
“I definitely agree,” Ball said. “Just be in a weight room and everything they say.”
It is no secret that Hornets need a ball on the floor. This season he average 25.2 points with a high career, along with 7.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game, and is able to warm up at any point of the game and earn some ridiculous 3-pole from one foot.
The problem during the five seasons NBA Ball was his inability to avoid injuries. Over the past five seasons, he played for only 56% of 410 franchise games due to persistent injuries, which most include ankles and legs. Ball’s last three seasons ended up in operations.
Ball did not close to reaching 75 games he played in the 2021-22 season when he performed in the All-Star NBA.
Hornets CEO Jeff Peterson considers this progress that Ball played in 47 games this season after he saw the event for only 36 and 22 previous two years.
“It’s where we want it to be? No. It’s where he wants it to be? No. The slat is an incredible competitor and knows that we have the best chance to win and get where we want to go,” Peterson said. “We provide every resource and again, gives time and takes over ownership. We are glad that the season has ended in this respect and is able to increase next year and have a healthy start of the season.”
Peterson said that Ball would be “absolutely” ready for the training camp and next season after the operation on the right ankle and on the right wrist.
“Lamelo, it can be as good as it wants to be, and we saw it,” Peterson said. “He played at the All-Star caliber.
