Real Madrid legend Marcelo said the club could not be written off because they are trying to turn over deficit 3-0 Arsenal in their Champions League quarterfinals second leg on Wednesday.
A few stunning free kicks helped Arsenal stun Madrid last week in the Emirates and left Carlo Ancelotti’s side with a mountain. However, Marcelo, who won five Champions League titles with Madrid, said no task was too big for the club.
“You can never write off Real Madrid,” Marcelo told Mexico on Monday. “Although three goals are a lot of goals, but I always think about Real Madrid and I have a lot of faith that they will return. Real Madrid is Real Madrid and always returns.”
Marcelo is playing in Mexico in Mexico this week in the Club Clusico Club with another former Madrid and Barcelona Players.
“The back leg is in Bernabéu, the fans will push hard and the players are convinced that it can happen. Of course we do not know what will happen, we have faith and Real Madrid will return,” Marcelo said.
Marcelo added that the victory is in the DNA of Real Madrid, because it’s something they have been learning since they are wearing a shirt.
“I think since we joined Real Madrid, we are learning that we will never give up, and that has always been in our blood,” he said. “It has been so many years, and besides DNA it is hard work, humility, daily determination and support also fans. It is part of things to work.”
Madrid, who welcomes Arsenal in Bernabéu, boasts a result of recovery from a position they find on Wednesday, although the club has never returned from the defeat of the first leg.
Antcelotti’s party released a number of logical defiant comebacks on the way to the Champions League, including two stop goals Manchester City in the semifinals.
