FIFA has developed plans to organize the playoffs between the AMéric and LAFC club to determine the replacement team for Leon at the FIFA Club FIFA World Championship in 2025, Sunday said in a statement in ESPN ESPN.
Leon was removed from the World Championship in the club 23rd March, when FIFA decided that its integration would violate the rules of competition to prevent two clubs with the same owner in participation in the tournament. León is owned by Grupo Pachuca, who also owns a colleague League MX Side leaf.
“In accordance with Article 10, paragraph four regulations for the FIFA Club 2025 World Cup determined FIFA that the León Club will be removed from the competition, the club will be admitted as a replacement that will be announced at the right time,” FIFA said in its statement on March 21.
Play -off plans would be moved if León lost appeal to the Arbitration Court for Sport (CAS) to restore the World Championship in the club.
CAS announced that it would be held on April 23 in Spain Madrid, because León and Costarican Side League Deportiva Alajuelense will submit its arguments. Alajuelense originally filed a CAS complaint, quoted that León’s participation violated FIFA regulations and claimed that they should receive a place in the tournament instead.
Now both clubs have until April 2 to collect legal documentation before submitting arguments 23 .. Until each legal case is resolved, no replacement plans will be announced.
“LAFC would take part in a runner in the Léon Club in the Champions League in 2023, through which Club Léon qualified,” FIFA said on Sunday. “The Club América would take part in the top team in the FIFA Club World Cup, which is also determined by qualification.
“The playoff winner would be qualified unless the court proceedings were different.”
There was some precedent for this approach, given that the UEFA evaluation journey is how Red Bull Salzburg got into the World Championship since then Real Madrid won two of the previous ones The UEFA Champions League Titles.
The scenario is still dependent on the unsuccessful appeal of León on the decision of FIF 21 March.
LAFC representatives refused to comment.
When he asked about the qualifying for the tournament, the head coach Club América Andre Jardine confirmed that the team had to get their place on the pitch.
“León should go to the World Championship in the club. I’m sad for the institution and I would like them to find a solution so they can go,” Jardine said. “If this doesn’t happen, then América is doing things well for a long time. It is true that they have not won the Concacaf championship cup yet, which is our dream and a very clear goal.
“We lead most of the Mexican tournaments and the Concacaf ranking, which is one of the criteria. If you ask me if I want to go to the World Championship in the club, it is of course true, but I would like to go to the World Championship on the playground.
The World Cup of the 32-team Club is about to start on June 14, with the finals at the MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, NJ 13th July.
