Aryna Sabalenka created a dominant performance defeated by American Jessica Pegula in the final of Miami Open with a victory of 7-5 6-2.
Sabalenka performed an ideal start by breaking Pegula’s for 2-0, but an American who ended the dream of British Emmy Raducan in the quarterfinals hit victory in a row.
However, Sabalenka has returned to lead 5-3 only to make Belarus, to try to serve from the set, allowing Pegula to re-align.
The American, who lost six of her previous eight meetings with Sabalenko, was vulnerable on duty, although he won only one of the 10 points on the second serving during the opening set and the seventh break of the competition provided the highest seed advantage.
Sabalenka still did not seem completely seated, and she fell again to trigger the second set, but knew that the balance of power was very good.
Faith began to get out of Pegula when Sabalenek threw four games in a row and the last backhand on the line brought her a trophy.
Sabalenka did not fall through the whole tournament and it is her second title like World No 1, who also won Brisbane International in January.
Sabalenka lost to Madison Keys in the Australian open Decider and teenager Mirra Andreeva in Indian Wells two weeks ago, but it turned out to be too strong for the fourth Pegula seed in Florida.
“I am talking to me,” Sabalenka said Sky Sports.
“The last few finals were really hard and tight for me, so I got into it.
Meanwhile, the British duo Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool were disappointed in the men’s final, with the best seeds Marcelo Arevalo-Gonzalez and Mate Pavic, who claimed to win 7-6 (3) 6-3.
