Former Caddy Steve Williams Tiger Woods supported him to outperform his last injury and believe that the five -time career of the champions champions is “still not led”.

Woods played a limited schedule in recent years after the car accident in February 2021 left it with injuries threatening career, which caused only 11 official beginnings in the last four seasons and completed 72 openings on four occasions.

“He will want to exercise and get to the point where he feels he could stand on the tee and physically compete for 72 holes because he knew he gave every piece of practice he could do to get there and try to win one more main.

“He hasn’t done it yet!”

Would Tiger’s career without Williams be different?

Williams had been Caddy for more than 20 years and worked for the main winner of Greg Norman and Raymond Floyd, replacing Mike “Fluff” Cowan as Woodse Looper in March 1999, showing where the priorities of the future Grand Slam winner stood.

“When I went to take a job with Tiger and talked to him about what his plan was and what his goals are, it was just a stunning meaning to the main championship,” Williams explained.

“After winning the Masters (1997), when I entered the bag in 1999, he didn’t win another main championship. With every major that passes by, it’s one less chance to win one and doesn’t get his career on the track he wanted to get to.”

The couple enjoyed the main success later this year at the PGA Championship, where Williams’ decision to suppress Woods on the penultimate hole led them to see the then teenager Sergio Garcia in Medinah.

“Tiger read putt and said it was out of the hole, but I assured him that he was inside the hole – it was a big call,” Williams admitted. “This is the first time we had a chance to win a major. Actually, the stretch is a little stupid and Sergio (Garcia) has a crowd.

“He knocked Putt and who knows where his career might have gone if he did not qualify and continued the defeat of Sergio. The second major that I feel is the hardest to win and look at the number of great players, successful players who won only one main championship.

“Tiger obviously won it in 1999, so he doesn’t start 2000 with this extra pressure to try to win the other major and start this run. In a great time I suppressed Tiger and I was right and there was a huge amount of our confidence that followed in the coming years.”

Woods won three out of four large companies in 2000, including the US Open and open record margins before won the Masters of the following April to hold all four majority at the same time.

He remains the last player to win the green jacket in the coming years, after his defense of the title in 2002, which also saw, as the US Open, part of the remarkable run of seven victories in 11 Majori.

“Everything was towards the breakage of Jackova (Nicklaus) of the 18 main championships,” Williams said. “As every year passed and every major passed, there was only more and more pressure for that. Just there, and then I really believed that the eclipse.

“His determination, his propulsion, his practice, the way he played and prepared, and we culminated for the Majors, was better than anyone else. It’s a lot of pressure Caddying for Tiger, but it’s a lot of pressure and things we prospered.”

That chip and their heritage together

Woods failed to add to his main sum in the next two seasons, but corrected to the Masters 2005 and defeated Chris Dimarco in the playoffs, after he created one of the largest shots in main history with his remarkable chip-in birdie in par-threes.

“When Tiger hit the ball on the tee and I think” Jeez, that’s a little remaining! “,” Williams thought.

“I thought it was in the bunker, then it’s not a bunker. Then he’s in the water, now it’s not in the water – I don’t know where he is and what’s there! Tiger, when we go from tee to green, he asked me.

“Tiger said,” Do you think that if I land the ball on this brand of the playground, it will not be too far uphill, or get too much speed, will return and go too far around the hole? “Well, he landed the ball exactly on this brand of the playground.

“He could stand there for the rest of his life and hit as many shots as he wanted, he would never reproduce this shot – it was just an incredible moment.”

Williams was there to comfort him a year later, the first major won from Woods’s father Earl, with their nearby bonds, which reached from the golf course to their department in 2011.

We yelled together – Williams’ new book about his time with Woods – reflects more at the end of their partnership and limited communication because veteran Caddy felt “happiness” that he spent so long with the winner of the 82 -time PGA Tour.

“When he came to the playground, there was all the shop,” Williams said. “That was his job, had a task, and wanted to do this to the best of his skills every day he came to the golf course.

“He certainly had a softer page that only those people around him would see from the golf course. He had a very kind touch. He doesn’t say anything without any meaning and takes time.

“I was very lucky to wear one of the biggest players ever and was part of some golf history. He was an incredible person for whom he was very generous for me and his family.

“I have nothing but praise for the guy and I feel very lucky that I was able to stand by him and see how he plays some of the best golf ever played.”
